I was taught
not
to cry;
to let my clouds
sound
with thunder,
strike with lightning,
but never drip with rain.

I was taught
not
to share an affinity
with water.
Body composed
of 70% magma,
I turn to Ash
every time fear erupts
from within my core.

It is still in me,
fear:
a constant source
of poison.
Now I stand staring
at the destruction
of the pyroclastic flow of anxiety
around me.
Within me.

I was taught
not
to succumb
to any tsunami of tears,
but I was not
taught
that you could drown
in more
than just water.
